Family responses to OCD are an important factor in the overall success of treatment. Family members tend to be torn between the parts of them that want to appease OCD by participating in compulsions and parts of them that are frustrated and want family members with OCD to just stop the compulsions. It’s hard enough to figure out what to do and usually even harder to do it. This group is designed to help families use behavioral contracting to support the overall healing process. Individuals with OCD join with their family members in determining the most beneficial responses to support their treatment goals and progress.

This Multifamily Behavioral Treatment for OCD is designed to:

  • Provide general education about Family Accommodation and a rationale for using contracting to limit or reduce accommodation of OCD symptoms
  • Develop a specific behavioral treatment plan to reduce family involvement in OCD behaviors
  • Improve communication and discover effective ways to interact in difficult times
  • Allow families to gain experience with the process of negotiating the contract and learn to revise and adapt it on their own
  • Promote understanding of and compassion for everyone’s feelings
  • Reduce negative feelings of shame and frustration and the hiding and lashing out that may result
  • Support individual treatment and the overall improvement of symptoms

This is a structured 12-Week program

Groups are weekly, Thursdays from 6-8pm

The fee is $75 per family, per group
